So the race is over you did well? You didn’t do so well?
There’s always a reason if you didn’t do well and 9 times out of 10 in long distance races its nutrition related. If you did well, it also means your nutrition went well too.
At this point you probably won’t do another ironman for many more months to come so while it’s fresh in your head write yourself a short list on how the race went and store it in your computer so you don’t lose it. |

It doesn’t take a genius to work out that we need to eat and drink to keep our fuel going for a race,
and even less of a genius to work out we need more than we would
consume than sitting around the office all day at work….but
unbelievably as it may seem most have far less than that, they start
off with a plan, can’t stand anymore then go backwards from there. The
run reduces to a walk and the times blow out.
So today I look at what happens and why does this happen?

Reduced performance during exercise?
During a race or training do you ever get:
- cramps? - loss of performance? - feel hot ?
- heart rate goes up for no reason?
The list goes on and on but in the majority of cases it's due to a very important reason that we all forget. |
